How have states used their maps to advance progress?
Elizabeth Gardner
53:28
Minnesota shared its Nemours map with the MN child nutrition and wellness advisory committee.
Kaitlin Chamberlain
53:40
Florida also participated in the GIS map Springboard in Year 4. We were really impressed with the final product! We found the data cleaning timeline rather quick, so make sure your organization has the capacity to clean a very data set or contract out if that is an option. We are in the beginning stages of working with our CCFP to strategize ways to increase CCFP participation. We have one local United Way team in Palm Beach County using the map in their 0-4 hunger relief subcommittee in their strategic plan to increase CCFP participation. We hope to replicate that in other local areas as well.
Jordan Smith
53:42
mahalo!
Kaitlin Chamberlain
53:54
very large data set*
Brittany Martens
54:01
If we already have an established Map for CACFP would it be possible to add additional data to the Map to help further identify priority populations?
Brittany Martens
54:49
Great, thank you! :)
Bonnie Williams
55:29
Do you also identify the NSLP in mapping? Many of our LEA based ECE programs default to NSLP, making our CACFP numbers low.
Diane Peck
55:37
We have expanded our map to work on food insecurity. We did contract with a mapping company to help us with this.
Bonnie Williams
57:12
My hunch is that LEA's who are already doing NSLP don't want to make the time and effort to also participate in CACFP. Do you see that in other states?
Jordan Smith
59:33
Agree, Bonnie. Our public school DOE houses pre-K and K students but implements only NSLP and not CACFP, but unclear of the underlying reasoning behind this
Bonnie Williams
01:03:19
Do you know who provides the training for the equity activity? At least part 1?
Bonnie Williams
01:04:40
OK, thanks
